YARMOUTH — The opening of Stonewall Gallery’s newest photography exhibition “Bridges of Friendship” will be held 5:30-7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 9, at the gallery, inside Yarmouth History Center, 118 East Elm St. The exhibition showcases works by members of Portland Camera Club and Photo Club SPOLOKHI of Archangel, Russia. Wine, cheese, and light refreshments will be served at this free opening reception.
“Bridges of Friendship” celebrates the 30th anniversary of the sister city relationship between Greater Portland and Archangel, Russia, and includes 60 photographs: 30 from Maine and 30 from Archangel. Established in 1987, the linkage between the two cities is intended to promote exchanges and “to provide opportunities for Russians and Americans to share time, ideas, and the best of our communities; to bring true friendship and understanding to our peoples; and to improve the chances for world peace through citizen diplomacy.” The works shown in Yarmouth also will be exhibited in Archangel.
“Bridges of Friendship” will be on view 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday, at the Stonewall Gallery through Jan. 5, 2019.
