HOULTON — The Aid for Kids annual Educational Fair will be held on Saturday, Sept. 22, at the John Millar Civic Center, 94 Randall Avenue, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Event is free. Please join us for this great family event.
Frogtown Mountain Puppeteers will be presenting two shows at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. They are a puppetry group from Bar Harbor comprised of three siblings, won numerous awards, and create and write all the shows that they perform.
Red Cross will have the Emergency Response Vehicle for families to explore. Includes pinatas, activity packets with crayons and Fire Safety Bingo. Sign up for free smoke alarms and fabulous door prizes.
Hancock County Sheriff’s Office & Aroostook County Sheriff’s Office is offering Iris Scan, a biometric recognition service that is used for the purpose of identifying and locating missing children or vulnerable adults. The human iris is absolutely unique, even between twins. The scan is performed by looking into a computer and takes about 15 seconds. This new technology can identify a child within seconds. Please stop by for your child’s free iris scan.
The Texting Simulator from the Maine Department of Public Safety will be available to help reinforce the importance of not texting and driving. The simulator is a teaching tool that allows the participant to drive and try to text at the same time on a computer to see the consequences of texting and driving. The Maine Department of Public Safety will also have the rollover simulator-an aide in teaching the importance of wearing seatbelts to help avoid serious injury in a rollover.
