On Wednesday, May 17 Pine Tree Hospice is pleased to host for the public the AARP seminar “We Need to Talk…Family Conversations with Older Drivers” offering helpful tips on how to navigate this difficult subject. The event will be held at the Mayo Regional Hospital Resource Center from 6-7:30 p.m. Mr. Court Dwyer, a trained AARP instructor, will facilitate the seminar. Family caregivers and friends will learn to hold successful conversations with their loved ones about remaining active and participating in the community when it is time to limit or stop driving.
During the “We Need to Talk…Family Conversations With Older Drivers” seminar, participants will learn how to:
-Better understand the psychological and social impact of limiting or stopping driving;
-Recognize the warning signs indicating an older driver may need to limit or stop driving;
-Identify opportunities to hold “family conversations”; and
-Help meet transportation needs if driving is limited.
This seminar, which is part of Pine Tree Hospice’s Caring for the Caregiver program, is open to the community and is free of charge. To pre-register please call 564-4346 or email firstname.lastname@example.org
