BRUNSWICK — Brunswick Downtown Association Speaker Series presents “Down East Magazine: Charting a new course” by Editor in Chief Kathleen Fleury, 7:30 a.m. Thursday, April 26, at Brunswick Hotel & Tavern, 4 Noble St.

Fleury was born in Brunswick and grew up on Cousins Island. After attending Middlebury College in Vermont and working in publishing in New York City, she joined “Down East” in 2007.
She is editor in chief, the first woman to hold that position in the magazine’s 60-year history. Fleury lives in Camden with her partner and fellow avid tennis player, Noah, and their three children.
Fleury will talk about her future plans for the magazine. She also will discuss her approach on attracting and retaining Millennials in the Maine workforce.
Awards will be presented to Brunswick Downtown Association’s Visitor Center Volunteer of the Year and Preservation Award winners. The Preservation Awards recognize people and organizations that have created tangible value in the heart of the community through renovation or restoration of existing buildings or through new construction that restores and enhances the traditional streetscape.
