BANGOR — Bangor Region Chamber of Commerce’s annual business breakfast will be held 7:30-9 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 10, at Cross Insurance Center, 515 Main St.
Keynote speaker will be Andrew Geaghan, owner and head brewer for Geaghan Brothers Brewing Co.
Andrew Geaghan is the third generation owner of Bangor’s iconic Geaghan’s Pub. He rejoined the family business in early 2010, after careers in both teaching high school science locally, and finishing his Masters Degree in Theology and Ministry Studies from Bangor Theological Seminary. Along with his father and uncles, the idea to build a brewery in connection to the pub was born. In December 2011, Geaghan Brothers Brewing Co. sold its first pints, and in January 2016, the company started distributing statewide. Now ranked Maine’s ninth largest production brewery in the state, Geaghan Brothers prides itself with using as many local ingredients as possible and working with local businesses for sustainable brewing practices. When he is not working, Geaghan enjoys spending time with his wife Lindsay and their two young children, and he is still a part-time pastor at Milford Congregational Church.
Kathleen Shane, retail manager for Downeast Toyota Rental, will be named Volunteer of the Year. She started the rental department in July 2004, and has been recognized by Toyota in both the regional level and the national level for the past 12 years. Shane really enjoys her time volunteering at the Chamber; she is on the membership committee and loves to volunteer at the Chamber golf tournament. She is a 2016 graduate of BRLI and is now serving on the curriculum committee. She has found success in the rental business by networking at the different events that the chamber has to offer such as the business after hours that is held every month. Shane lives with her husband and sons Keith and Sean in Dedham. She also has two grown stepchildren, Samantha and Todd, along with four grandchildren. She enjoys spending her time with family and friends at her family’s camp on Allen Pond in Greene.
