The Bangor Region’s Interact Club, a youth volunteer organization made up of high school students from the Greater Bangor Area sponsored by the Bangor Breakfast Rotary and The Bangor YMCA, are spending this Friday, Saturday, and Sunday helping ShelterBox raise funds at the Bangor Home Show. The Interact Club will be collecting donations outside the Cross Insurance Center on Friday, April 1st, from 3:00 – 8:00pm, on Saturday, April 2nd, from 10:00am – 6:00pm, and Sunday, April 3rd from 10am – 4pm.
ShelterBox is an international aid organization that provides emergency shelter and life-saving equipment to families around the world who lose everything when a natural disaster strikes. This non-profit provides families with a crate that contains a tent and supplies for a family of 4 to live in the event of a natural disaster and have been deployed to 240 disasters and humanitarian crises in more than 90 different countries.
The teens in Interact Club and their advisors will be stationed outside the Cross Insurance Center to increase awareness of ShelterBox to the Bangor Community and will have a display to show the community what ShelterBox provides families who have been impacted by a natural disaster.
