Adults age 50-plus are invited to attend “Your Life, Your Choices: Advance Care Planning for End-of-Life,” a free, half-day symposium on Monday, August 18, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Salvation Army on Route One in Rockland.
Cosponsored by Pen Bay Healthcare members Kno-Wal-Lin Home Care & Hospice, Quarry Hill, the Picker Family Resource Center, Pen Bay Medical Center Palliative Care Program, and the Pen Bay Healthcare Foundation, the event is designed to introduce and demystify the various medical, financial, legal, and practical matters that older adults should consider as they plan for their later years.
Local experts will discuss:
· Advance directives
· Medical considerations
· Palliative vs. hospice care
· Financial and legal issues
· Funeral and burial options
The day’s agenda will also include a showing of Consider the Conversation, a documentary on advance care planning, and an introduction to Sussman House, a hospice-care center slated to open soon on the Pen Bay Healthcare campus in Rockport. A free continental breakfast and buffet lunch will be served.
Registration is required. To sign up, please call Quarry Hill at 230-6116.
