Woodlawn to host contemporary art show during Ellsworth Antiques Show

ELLSWORTH, Maine — Woodlawn will host a contemporary art show during the Ellsworth Antiques Show at Woodlawn August 14th-17th. Woodlawn in Art will feature art work based on a Hancock County theme by area artists. The works will be displayed during the Opening Night Festivities and then throughout the historic interiors of the Black House during the three days of the Show. The art is also for sale to the public with 20% of the proceeds going to support Woodlawn’s Education Program Fund.

Woodlawn in Art is also an art competition. An expert panel of judges, including Roger Moss, George Kinghorn, Carl Little, and Sandra Blake Leonard, will judge the art based on creative design, technical ability, and aesthetic appeal. The winning artist will receive a $500 cash prize. Second place will receive $250. Third place will receive $125. The judges will announce the winning artist during the Opening Night of the Ellsworth Antiques Show on August 14th. Artists in the Show include: Leslie Anderson, S. Bartron-Miscione, Arlyss Becker, Avery Falkner, Jill Finsen, Susan Finsen, Anina Porter Fuller, Diane Kirk, Lorraine Lans, Tim McCormick, Rebecca Poole-Heyne, Jerry Rose, Axel Stohlberg, Alice Wilkinson, and John Wilkinson.

Woodlawn in Art will take place during the Ellsworth Antiques Show. Staged under a gigantic tent on Woodlawn’s grounds, guests can peruse museum quality antiques, priced within a wide range, which the dealers beautifully present in booth settings. The show features twenty-seven top dealers, some of whom regularly appear on the PBS series The Antiques Roadshow. They are experts in their respective fields and are always eager to share their knowledge. Boston Private Bank & Trust Company is the lead corporate sponsor for this year’s show with additional support from Skinner, Inc. and Eaton Peabody. The Show opens at 4 pm on Wednesday, August 14th with a Cocktail Party and Dinner catered by Chippers Restaurant.
