THOMASTON, Maine —  When Billy’s Tavern decided to close its doors recently, they were concerned that Thomaston area residents would be left without one their favorite gathering spots, and Starr Street would become a little too quiet. When local entrepreneur, Vicki Fales heard about this she realized the location would be the perfect place to open a second restaurant in midcoast Maine; one that celebrates the the maritime history of the area and gives the community a comfortable, affordable, friendly gathering spot.

Ms. Fales, who also owns the Waterworks Restaurant in Rockland, is happy to expand to this new location while providing a completely different atmosphere and experience to local diners and visitors.
After connecting with Billy’s Tavern owner,
obtaining the necessary approvals, and transforming the space into a traditional American tavern, Ms. Fales announces the grand opening of the Water Dog Tavern, located at 1 Starr Street, Thomaston. Doors will open at 3 PM on Friday, March 7.

“Whether your journey has lasted months, or simply after a hard day’s work, whether you’re arriving from the Atlantic or from Main Street, a friend awaits your arrival at the Water Dog Tavern. We open our doors, as our ancestors once did, to friends and strangers, to sit around a table or pull up a seat at the bar, to meet new people and reconnect with old friends and family.” – Vicki Fales, Owner, Water Dog Tavern

The Water Dog Tavern features traditional, hearty pub fare served at a fair price by a friendly, local staff. From burgers to chowder, pasta to fried haddock, the mission of the tavern is to provide the hardworking people of Thomaston and midcoast Maine with delicious, satisfying food in a setting that feels like home. Plus, Billy’s Tavern regulars will be happy to know that the ‘Mug Club’ tradition will continue at Water Dog.

The Water Dog Tavern will be open for lunch and dinner. Closed Sunday and Mondays, the hours are slated as Tuesday through Thursday 11:30 am to 9 pm and Friday & Saturday 11:30 am to 10 pm. While not normally open on Mondays, the tavern will be open on March 17th for St Patricks Day!
