Views from Quoddy Head State Park

It’ll be two years in March I’ve been photographing Quoddy Head State Park as a self assignment.
The project began as a challenge in photographic seeing and creative vision.
An added benefit was the healthy physical activity, fresh air and endless scenic beauty.

I soon realized the enormity of image possibilities.
The views along Quoddys two mile rocky coast are among the most beautiful in Maine.

My visits became more frequent, short excursions became lengthy stays, captivating moments evolved
into hourly encounters, ordinary subjects had complex possibilities and starting early became long before

I have not tired of photographing this place, if anything I am only beginning to explore its hidden qualities.
Quoddy Head State Park is gem in the rough, a unique and remote location with a life and character all its
own. Quoddy has a dynamic rugged landscape overlooking an ocean that is peacefully calm, breathtakingly wild, turbulent and hazardous, mysterious and threatening, engulfed in coastal fogs.
In all seasons, all weather it’s always changing.

I feel privileged to share some of my images from a series which I call “Views from Quoddy Head State Park”
I’ve tried to convey to the viewer the existing light quality that prevailed at the time of each exposure.
I hope that viewers might find them interesting enough to visit and experience the beauty of downeast Washington County for themselves.

As time permits I shall continue with this ongoing project which has become an enjoyable challenge.
Thank you
