Trekkers’ “Pedal to the Port” – the 5th Annual Ride for Relationships – is scheduled for Saturday, June 8th. This destination bike ride is a primary fundraising event for Trekkers’ youth mentoring programs. This year’s ride will once again feature a 12-mile family-friendly loop along the St. George peninsula. There is a scenic 35-mile loop to the Marshall Point Lighthouse in Port Clyde and back. And, for serious cyclists, there’s also a 45-mile loop that takes riders on an ocean-side trek past the Reversing Falls at The ‘Keag in South Thomaston, and around beautiful Ash Point in Owls Head. All three loops begin and end at Oceanside West (the former Georges Valley) High School in Thomaston.
The registration fee is $25 for an individual rider. New this year: There is no registration fee for teams of four or more riders. Each rider is asked to gather a minimum of $75 in pledges. All pledges will support area students through Trekkers’ mentoring relationships, tutoring services and educational programming. Pledge sheets and registration information can be found on the Pedal to the Port web site: www.pedaltotheport.com. By visiting the site, you can register to ride, learn more about the routes, or sponsor a rider.
Pedal to the Port provides crucial financial support to Trekkers’ programs. Proceeds will help the organization connect more young people with caring adults through our outdoor-based youth mentoring programs. Mark your calendars and support local students by registering to ride, sponsoring a rider, or making an online donation. For more information about Pedal to the Port 2013, please call (207) 594-5095.
