Brian Hodges, Camden Development Director, has received the final version of the design reports for a 2 ¼ mile Riverwalk and a redesigned Public Landing that focuses on its best uses. The reports were created by a consultant team led by TY Lin International located in Falmouth, ME. This 9 month effort first included a selection process from 11 proposals being submitted by a number of firms across the United States. After narrowing the submissions to 3 firms for an interview, the team led by TY Lin was unanimously selected. A Work Group consisting of key constituencies and town committees was formed to guide Town staff and the consultant with the project. A series of 4 community meetings was then conducted with hundreds of residents, businesses, property owners and interested parties participating in the process.

The final reports and schematic designs have been provided separately for the Riverwalk and Public Landing. In order to reduce costs and be environmentally friendly, the reports are available online by visiting the Town of Camden’s website at and clicking on the link in the top header for Riverwalk and Public Landing. A limited number of hard copies are available to be viewed onsite at the Camden Town Office and Camden Public Library. “We are very excited to see the final recommendations from TY Lin” stated Hodges. “Their approach provides us with information and insight to make decisions on if, how, when, and what should be implemented. The beauty of the reports is that many aspects are standalone and are not necessary for other elements to be constructed.”

The recommendations are based on a phased approach and are designed to build upon each other. In addition, cost estimates have been included for various phases as well as the elements constituting the phases. A formal presentation of the reports will be made to the Camden Select Board at their regularly scheduled, public meeting of Tuesday November 12th beginning at 6:30PM. At that time, a decision will be made by the Selectmen on how to proceed with the reports.
