Partners in Island Education, in conjunction with Vinalhaven High School, will present “Three Nightmares” by Stephen Gregg on Friday May 23th and Saturday May 24th at 7:00 pm, and Sunday May 25th at 1:00 pm. Hilary Martin will direct this set of one-act plays that explores the nature of dreams and reality through humor, fear, and suspense.
In “The New Margo”, Margo goes missing and returns with a drastic makeover and a whole new attitude. Her friends aren’t sure what to make of Margo’s new persona as they try to discover just what happened during the time she was missing.
“One Lane Bridge” is a re-working of the classic tale of the ghostly hitchhiker; when Eli offers a ride to friend of a friend Samantha, he just expects to have some company on his trip. He is in for more than he bargained for, however, as the trip grows increasingly eerie and frightening.
“Wake-up Call” follows the tribulations of Jim, a 16 year old who has just told his girlfriend he loves her for the first time. After finally getting up the nerve to tell her, he wakes up at home in bed – just a dream, or was it? Jim continues to fall asleep in one place and wake-up in another, until neither he nor the audience is quite sure what’s real and what isn’t, and no one knows what to expect!
Performed by middle and high school students from the Vinalhaven School, these one-acts are sure to offer something everyone! Performances will be held at Smith Hokanson Memorial Hall, located at Vinalhaven School. Tickets are $10.00 for adults and $5.00 for students, and can be purchased at The Paper Store on Vinalhaven, or at the door at the time of the performance. “Three Nightmares” is presented by special arrangement with THE DRAMATIC PUBLISHING COMPANY of Woodstock, Illinois.
