SACO – Thornton Academy will hold its 7th Annual Thornton Fund Auction on May 2nd at 6:30 PM to raise funds to support various student-based programs, such as the free breakfast and lunch program.

“Fifteen percent of Thornton Academy’s local student population qualifies for meal assistance, but as an independent town academy, Thornton does not receive public funds for these services,” says Allan Young, Associate Head for School Administration. “The Auction is a fun evening that supports a very worthy cause.” Last year, the Auction raised over $80,000.

Open to members of the public ages 21 and over, the Thornton Fund Auction offers a festive evening including both live and silent auctions, and light fare. There is something for everyone, and one of the highlights of the evening will be a raffle drawing for $20,000 worth of cash prizes, including a grand prize of $10,000. Raffle tickets cost $100 and the winning ticket will be pulled from a total pool of 500 tickets. It’s not necessary to be present to win. Those interested in participating in the raffle may contact Thornton Academy’s Development Office or find details at
