Graduate students at the University of Maine will present their research, artistic works, projects, and collaborations at its annual GradExpo on March 28 and 29 in conjunction with the unveiling of the University of Maine’s new Innovative Media, Research and Commercialization Center. The two-day event includes traditional short oral presentations and poster sessions, innovative art installations, informal slide-shows, and a PechaKucha competition where students present their work in a rapid-fire style of 20 slides, 20 seconds each. Graduate students and faculty will be on-hand to answer questions and demonstrate the features and facilities of the new center. The event is open to the public.

Student work at the GradExpo spans across all disciplines and showcases students from the Physical Sciences & Technology, Natural Sciences, Humanities and Social Sciences. Submissions for several new interdisciplinary sessions have been added to the expo this year. These sessions feature research focused on Canada and Canadian-Americanism, and on the culture, science and policy of the Gulf of Maine. The Intermedia department will showcase graduate student art projects.

The Grad Expo will take place at the newly open Innovative Media, Research and Commercialization Center (IMRC), dedicated to developing a new culture of innovation and creativity for the state of Maine. The new facilities and state-of-the-art equipment in the IMRC greatly supports the ability to pursue research and creative activities, and to work in collaboration with business and industry throughout Maine. An open house of the facility will take place during the expo.

Friday night will feature a gala with light refreshments and an award ceremony.
