A unique perspective on The Messiah by Georg Fredrich Handel will be presented December 16 at the Fog Bar, Rockland. In an attempt to demystify and regain the operatic roots of the piece, the Barroom Messiah provides a string orchestra and excellent soloists like David Myer and Erin Chenard, and the public is invited to rehearse and perform the choruses in a cozy public house setting. The event is scheduled for a holiday season Saturday afternoon; rehearsal is at 2:30 pm with the performance at 4:30. The performance will be led by Charles Brown Jr., music director at Nativity Lutheran Church, Rockport. There is seating for listeners as well. Dig out your scores and come sing with us. Donations will be gratefully accepted. We are also performing at Blue nightclub in Portland December 2 and 9. Don’t miss it.
