The summer is getting hotter and perennial gardens are in full bloom. Join Wendy Andresen for the mid-July installment of her Tending the Perennial Garden series on Thursday, July 25 at 12:00 noon.
Now that the plants are blooming and getting taller, it is an especially important time to actively manage the perennial garden. Wendy will demonstrate pruning, deadheading, supporting, and management methods for this part of the midsummer season. Many of the methods she will outline are included in Tracy DiSabato-Aust’s book The Well Tended Perennial Garden, copies of which, among other garden tools and accessories and plants, will be for sale after the presentation.
After owning and managing a garden design and maintenance business in Connecticut, Wendy and her husband Ray moved to Camden in 2006. Wendy currently serves as a Merryspring volunteer helping to maintain the park’s perennial beds.
This is an outdoor lecture. Participants should meet outside the Hexagon at noon. This event will occur rain or shine, so guests are advised to wear weather-appropriate clothing and comfortable shoes.
Admission to this program is free to Merryspring members and children, with a nominal $5 fee for non-members.
