The Knights of Columbus are dedicated to honoring all those who serve and have served our country and are requesting photos of loved ones who have served in the Armed Forces of the United State of America. On December 22 the Knights of Columbus will hold a Military Appreciation Ball at the Fort Kent Knights of Columbus Hall. “We would like to have photos of loved ones on display on each of the tables” says Duane Belanger. Photos can be sent electronically via email to email@example.com or you may contact Duane Belanger via cell at (207) 951-2874 to arrange an exchange of a photo to be scanned. “It’s important to recognize all veterans that have made this celebration possible”
Those attending the event will have an opportunity to meet face to face with service personnel of the US Army, US Marine Corps, US Navy and US Air Force all in full dress with guests seated at a place of honor. The US Coast Guard has been contacted and may send representation as well. The active duty service members will be served in place by local Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts in uniform. Fourth Degree Knights are asked to attend in their tuxedos and all other attendees are asked to simply arrive in “Sunday Dress.” Veterans may wear uniforms they wore while serving or service organization uniforms for members of the American Legion, VFW or Marine Corps League for example.
Veterans and dignitaries from the Valley and throughout the great State of Maine will be on hand as well and this is an excellent opportunity to give thanks to all who have served and blessed us with the freedoms we all enjoy on a daily basis.
The evening will begin with a 5pm Social Hour followed by a meal at 6pm. A special treat will be the singing of the Star Spangled Banner to include the fourth verse of our National Anthem. At 8pm the band “Tennessee Haze” will provide live music so that all can dance the night away.
Cost of the event is $10 per person and proceeds benefit the US Marine Corp Toys for Tots, a program that benefits so many needy children in Aroostook County and the State of Maine.
