PORTLAND, Maine — Putney Inc., a pharmaceutical company focused on the development and sale of generic prescription medicines for pets, is sponsoring Pet Rock in the Park, a fundraiser for Chase Away K9 Cancer, a division of the National Canine Cancer Foundation.

At this year’s third annual outdoor festival, Putney’s veterinary team will provide free nail trims to pets that stop by the Putney booth. The all-day event also will feature animal demonstrations, food vendors, live music, pet product and service vendors and animals available for adoption from local animal shelters and rescues.

This is the third event in three weeks that Putney’s team has sponsored and participated in to support a local animal cause. In August, the team volunteered to help provide free neutering for 30 cats and dogs at the second annual WingNutz Free Neuter event and raised money for the Coastal Humane Society in its biggest fundraiser of the year, the 5K Paws for a Cause race.

“At Putney, we are pet owners and pet lovers. Whether it’s through our work to develop affordable pet medicines or through our volunteer efforts to support local animal welfare organizations, the Putney team is committed to improving pets’ lives,” says Dr. Tracy Revoir, DVM, Putney’s Manager of Veterinary Support, in a press release.

Pet Rock in the Park will take place 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Sept. 7, in Deering Oaks Park in Portland. For more details about the event, go to www.rewind1009.com/events/pet-rock-in-the-park-2/ and to learn more about Chase Away K9 Cancer, visit ww.chaseawayk9cancer.org/.
