Penobscot Community School Secretary Christine Kilpeck
Named “Maine School Secretary of the Year”

Augusta, ME – The Maine Principals’ Association (MPA) has named Christine Kilpeck, secretary at Penobscot Community School, as Maine’s School Secretary of the year.

Kilpeck, a resident of Castine, received the award for her leadership, service, understanding, patience, and working beyond expectations. She has impacted her school by making it a more positive and caring place. Her attitude, worth ethic, and presence help make those around her better people. She was nominated for this award by Penobscot Community School Principal Allen Cole.

In announcing Kilpeck’s selection as Maine School Secretary of the Year for 2013, MPA Executive Director Richard Durost noted that “Christine consistently demonstrates a positive attitude that has a great influence. She continually looks for ways to get things done, rather than reasons why they may not. By example, she has shifted the entire school toward a more caring and can-do place.”

As Maine’s 2013 School Secretary of the Year, Kilpeck will be honored at the annual Secretaries’ Seminar on March 8 in Bangor. She will also be honored at the MPA’s Spring Conference Awards Banquet on March 28, 2013 at the Samoset in Rockport.

The Maine Principals’ Association is a professional association representing Maine’s K-12 principals, assistant principals, and career and technology center directors. The Association dates back to 1921 and focuses its work on promoting the principalship, supporting principals as educational leaders, and promoting and administering interscholastic activities in grades 9-12.
