Looking for a special way to end the summer? How about A Purrfectly Delicious Dinner, on Saturday, September 21st, that will save the lives of homeless cats and dogs? This festive evening out includes a surf and turf dinner complete with a whole lobster accompanied by beef tenderloin, appetizer, salad, dessert and beverages. Individuals can also order a vegetarian option in advance. There will be two seatings, at 6pm and 7pm, and diners will enjoy music by the local favorite, Keltic Shmeltic. Those who wish to bring their own drinks can do so.

This dinner is one of several very important fundraisers that support the organization’s work. The demand for PAWS’ services has skyrocketed in recent years along with the number of abandoned and neglected companion animals in Washington County. In addition to its traditional rescue, adoption and community education activities, PAWS facilitates the sterilization and care of community cats in Calais and in Eastport ¬ an activity that positions the all-volunteer organization on the forefront of animal rescue.

Tickets are $30 per person, available in advance at Eastport Pets and at PAWS, and all proceeds will provide direct support to the animals in PAWS’ care. A limited number of tickets will also be available at the door. The dinner will provide an opportunity to mingle with other Friends of PAWS while supporting this worthy cause. Eastport Arts Center is located at 36 Washington St in Eastport. Call PAWS at 207-454-7662 for more information about the event or about the organization’s work. Those who are unable to attend can still donate to PAWS via Pay Pal at www.paws-calais.com or by mail at 368 South St, Calais, ME 04619.
