The lazy first day of summer, Sunkhaze style.

Celebrate the first day of summer with a paddle! Naturalist Danielle D’Auria will guide a small group of boaters up the Sunkhaze Stream in Milford.

One of the best ways to see and explore Sunkhaze Meadows National Wildlife Refuge is by paddling up Sunkhaze Stream. D’Auria, a biologist with Maine Department of Inland Fisheries & Wildlife, will take participants to the heart of the refuge in search of secretive marsh birds, playful otters, and elusive moose. The out-and-back paddle is about 6 miles and should take 3-4 hours. Bring your own kayak or canoe, paddles, PFD, sunscreen, bug juice, water, and snacks.

Please note: the group will meet in Milford then caravan to the site in order to access through a gated area. Please be sure to register (below) in order to receive meeting location/time.

Sponsored by the US Fish and Wildlife Service/Sunkhaze National Wildlife Refuge.
