On April 5th, local Maine twirler, Morgan Sorey, was selected to be a member of the esteemed Pennsylvania State University Marching Blue Band as a member of the 2014-2015 Penn State Majorettes. She will be one of 15 twirlers to perform together at Beaver Stadium for over 110,000 people at each home football game this coming fall.

The Penn State Majorettes (aka “Touch of Blue”) are selected through a grueling audition process each spring, and this honor has been one Morgan has dreamed about for years. Currently, she is a member of the Main-E-Acts Baton Twirling Team–part of the Central Maine Twirling Corps–a program of the Bangor Parks and Rec Department and the Augusta Recreation Department.
Morgan has been twirling for 13 years, and has been competing as a Main-E-Act team member since a young age. The sport of competitive baton twirling takes extreme commitment, dedication, hard work, sacrifice, perseverance and teamwork, and reaching the heights of a collegiate team is a prestigious feat for any twirler. Morgan loves to perform, and is excited for the opportunity to be a part of the pride and tradition of the Penn State Blue Band.

Morgan, a resident of Orrington, grew up as a student in the Bucksport Schools and is currently a senior at Brewer High School. At Penn State she will study Biology, with the hopes of someday going to medical school.
