Orono Community Theatre celebrates the 75th anniversary of the most produced play in American dramatic literature, Thornton Wilder’s OUR TOWN, with performances on November 29, 30, December 1 and 2 at the Keith Anderson Community House in Orono. The show is directed and designed by Sandy Cyrus, with costume design by Rebecca Wright.

Set in the quaint New England town of Grover’s Corners, New Hampshire, the play exposes us to everyday life, love, marriage and death in a way that reminds us to treasure the simple and the ordinary. The cast of 23 actors is led by Michael Cloutier, a senior engineering student at the University of Maine, as the Stage Manager, Jessie Walker, a student at Orono Middle School as Emily Webb and Will Martin, an Orono High School student, as George Gibbs.

A community potluck supper will be held on opening night, Thursday, November 29 at 5:30pm at the Birch Street Senior Center. The supper is hosted by the Orono Schools Coalition for the Arts and those attending in costume (long skirt and shawl for women, vest and bow tie for men) will receive a $2 discount off the cost of an opening night ticket.

Regular ticket prices are $12 for adults and $8 for students and seniors, and are available in advance at Orono Pharmacy and at the door one half-hour before showtime. Performance times are 7pm Nov. 29, 30 and Dec. 1 and 2pm on December 2. The show is sponsored by grants from the Maine Community Foundation and the Orono-Old Town Kiwanis.
