BANGOR — Make-A-Wish Maine recently held its Walk For Wishes events in seven locations across the state, and saw immense support with donations totaling more than $90,000.

The Walk For Wishes event was held in Portland, Saco, Rockland, Bangor, Dennysville, Augusta and Auburn. As a result, Make-A-Wish Maine chapter will be able to fund 15 more wishes. In addition to Bangor area sponsorship and support, Spectrum Medical Group and Trusted Choice sponsored the event for the entire state.

Between team pledges and online donations, the Bangor area wish supporters brought in more than $10,306 with the Winterport Dream Walkers team leading the way with $2,453 in pledges and donations. This team was led by past wish recipient Tony Cote who raises money each year for Make-A-Wish.

Local sponsorship that helped make the Walk a success came from Cross Insurance, WS Emerson, United Insurance, Epstein Real Estate and the Bangor Firefighters Union. Also supporting the event locally were Dunkin Donuts, Specialty Sweets, Wal-Mart and Maine Discovery Museum.
