The Unitarian Universalist Society of Bangor invites you to join us for Sunday Services on Nov 30, 2014 at 10 am. We are located at 120 Park St, up the hill behind City Hall.
This Sunday our service will be led by Rev Brenda Bywater on the topic of Nurturing and Growth in the Season of Darkness. Between the time of Samhain and Solstice lies a time of darkness. Druidic practice honors and welcomes the darkness as a time of ripe creativity and spiritual gestation. It is a time to clear out clutter, physically and spiritually; to face oneself and creative generative Spirit of the Universe. We find meaning and nurture in the womb of darkness, preparing for the coming spark of light in the solstice. The warmth and inspiration of lighting candles and gathering with loved ones brings depth and infinitude of blessing because we accept the time and gifts of darkness. Join us in this contemplation, we welcome the young at heart to bring a favorite (portable) blankie and/or night/flash light for story time. We will also have a special altar for memories of trees and shrubbery lost or wounded in this months storm. We will celebrate those relationships with a spirit of farewell and thanks to the lost, and healing prayer for those in need of regeneration.
UUSB has an active RE program and all children are welcome. Following the service, there is a fellowship hour for all in attendance. For more information on UUSB, visit our website at www.uubangor.org or call us at 207-947-7009.
