BANGOR — For the second time in as many years, Northern Light Eastern Maine Medical Center is being honored by Forbes as one of the best midsize employers in the United States. In 2018, Northern Light Eastern Maine Medical Center made two Forbes’ “Best of” lists – Best Midsize Employer and Best Employer for Women.
For its list, the magazine partnered with a respected market research firm to survey more than 50,000 employees at companies across the US. The survey was conducted on companies from all industry sectors employing more than 1,000 people, and organizations are ranked based on two distinct criteria:
- Direct recommendations — employees rated their willingness to recommend their employer to friends and family;
- Indirect recommendation — participants were asked to evaluate other employers in their respective industries that stood out either positively or negatively.
In addition, employees were asked 35 questions about work related topics, including working conditions, salary, potential for development, and company image. The companies receiving the highest total scores were awarded Best Midsize Employers for 2019. Northern Light Eastern Maine Medical Center came in at number 454 out of the top 500 nationwide for 2019.
“What sets this honor apart from others is that it is direct result of our colleagues’ unsolicited opinions – people were surveyed at random,” says Tim Dentry, SVP and chief operating officer, Northern Light Health & interim president, Northern Light Eastern Maine Medical Center. I believe this speaks volumes about the positive work environment we strive to provide. We are certainly proud of our staff and all they do each day, and we’re pleased they feel pride in their organization.”
