FORT KENT — Sandra San Antonio, Northern Maine Medical Center’s medical practice director, is pleased to announce the addition of Dr. Alexandra Roberts to the Family Practice and Obstetrics Team.

Dr. Roberts earned her medical degree, magna cum laude, at Saint George’s University School of Medicine, Grenada, West Indies in 2016. During this time, she worked in community hospitals and clinics in Prague, Czech Republic, alongside local physicians. She completed her residency program in Family Medicine at the University of Massachusetts, Worcester, during which time she was nominated by her peers as an outstanding resident. As part of a Global Health Track during her residency, Dr. Roberts lived with a local family in Leon, Nicaragua, as part of an immersive experience.

Dr. Roberts is Board Certified by the American Board of Family Medicine. She serves as a mentor for Saint George’s University, working with prospective graduates, to assist students in determining options for residency, study plans and assistance in navigating the residency application process. She holds multiple professional memberships: the American Medical Association, the Massachusetts Medical Society, the American Academy of Family Physicians, the American Board of Family Medicine and the College of Family Physicians in Canada. She is trained in Medication Assisted Treatment for opioid use disorders. She will be working with the Aroostook Mental Health Center to provide Suboxone treatment at a weekly clinic at Northern Maine Medical Center’s Acadia Health Center in Madawaska.

A native of the Montreal area, she is fluent in French and has a working knowledge of the Spanish language. She joined the Family Practice Team at the hospital in early August and will be based in the Fort Kent office. She resides in Fort Kent with her fiancé, Nick Stuhr. In her leisure time she enjoys volleyball, hiking and cooking.
