New Learn To Skate Program

New Learn To Skate Program at the University of Maine, Alfond Ice Arena in Orono.

New Learn To Skate Program begins on Saturday, September 28th from 12-1:30pm. Classes will be offered for skaters of all ages and abilities. Registration for classes begins now.

Snowplow Sam classes are a 3 level introductory program that consists of preliminary skills for children ages 4-6 or for the skater not yet ready for the “Basic Eight” program. The Basic Skills program consists of 8 levels (“Basic Eight”), and includes the fundamentals of skating for the sports of Hockey, Figure Skating, Speed Skating, and Recreational Skating. “Introduction to Freestyle” classes teaches elements of Figure Skating, such as jumps, spins, footwork and edge drills. Individual booster lessons are also available with class enrollment for and additional fee.

It is highly recommended that skaters register in advance for the program. Skaters should arrive at least a half hour early, especially on the first day of the session on September 28th.
