Explore the Downeast Lakes Land Trust with Tanya Rucosky during this workshop and gentle hike. The short course will provide an introduction to nature journaling, including developing observational skills, as well as honing sketching and writing talents. Journaling offers an opportunity to explore nature with new media, slow down, and look more deeply into the natural world.
Bring a bound unlined sketchbook, pens and pencils. Colored pencils and/or a child’s set of water colors are not required but will add to your experience.

Tanya Rucosky, the Education and Communications Manager of the Downeast Lakes Land Trust in Grand Lake Stream, holds degrees in Environmental Education, English Literature and a Masters in Information Science. She has worked as a park ranger in the US, as well as developed a library in Taiwan, run a multi- million dollar HIV/AIDS program in South East Asia with the UN and Australian Government, and lead a regional citizen science project in Australia focused on water quality. She is the author of three books of poetry, as well as Sustaining River Life an Australian focused collection of water-based environmental education activities.

Tanya is also a passionate organic gardener, wild food forager, and hiker. She lives in Grand Lake Stream with her spouse, their two children and numerous animal friends.
