Post Date:

January is National Radon Awareness Month.  Radon is the second leading cause of lung cancer.

According to the United States Environmental Protection Agency radon is found in every state and that as many as 8 million homes throughout the United States have elevated radon levels.  Radon is an odorless and tasteless naturally occurring gas found in homes and well water.  According to the National Cancer Insistute, scientist have estimated between 15,000 to 20,000 people die annual from radon related lung cancer.

January is the perfect time to have your home tested for radon. If you have well water that should also be tested.  Free ME from Lung Cancer has funding through the Normand Dubreuil Radon Air Abatement Grant to help three single family low income homeowners pay for an air radon abatement system.
