The owner of BJ’s Automotive Diagnostic Center, Inc. in Belfast had a feeling that Smartphones would affect his business. After attending a seminar on DataMapping by the Maine Coast Welcome Center, Joel Knight signed up to get “DataMapped” the process of putting his business on the GPS maps. His business information and location were put onto the GPS maps travelers uses. Soon afterward, he got a call from a stranded traveler. The traveler commutes from Bangor to Rockland and experienced a breakdown in Belfast.
Joel inquired, “How did you find BJ’s Automotive?” The new customer responded “I’m stranded in a parking lot and I see your business on the map on my phone.”
Today’s traveler with a Smartphone has maps with them at all times. Jim LeClair, of the Maine Coast Welcome Center’s DataMappping service explains, “for years we’ve help tourism businesses correct their GPS map locations. Now, with Smartphones even businesses like Auto Repair benefit from being seen on the maps.”
Says, Joel “I knew things were changing, I just didn’t know how quickly. Being “DataMapped” brought us business.”
