Milo’s annual celebration, Milo’s Hometown Holidays, is happening on Saturday, December 7, 2013 !

Before Santa arrives at the Milo Town Hall, the Home Lighting and Cookie Decorating Contests will have already been held. Application forms and rules for both contests will be available in the Milo Town Hall Lobby after Wednesday, Nov. 20, 2013.

Applications for the Home Lighting Contest will be due back at the town office on Wednesday, Dec. 4, 2013. Judging will take place the evening of Friday, Dec. 6th – be sure your Christmas display is lit for the judging ! Cookies entered in the Cookie Decorating Contest must be dropped off at the Milo Town Hall Lobby on Saturday, Dec. 7, 2013 between 12:00 and 3:00 pm. along with the necessary paperwork. Contest winners and their awards will be announced at the celebration with Santa after 5:30 pm on the 7th.

The fun starts early. From 8:00 and 10:00 am. there will be Breakfast with Santa in the town hall dining room featuring a hearty breakfast for only $4.00 !

Right next door, at Park Street UMC, a Christmas Fair will be going on between 9:00 am. and 1:00 pm. A beef stew luncheon will be available at the fair between 11:00 am. and 1:00 pm.

From 4:00 to 6:00 pm. there will be more fun in the town hall dining room for children who will be making a Christmas decoration and having a snack.

Meanwhile Milo’s Hometown Holidays will welcome Santa to town with his very own parade which starts at 5:00 pm. at American Legion Post 41. Riders on Santa’s float need to dress for the cold, with special attention to warm footwear. After the parade a lucky child will be chosen to light the Milo Fire Department’s Community Christmas tree. There will be caroling at the tree after the lighting.

By 5:30 pm. Santa should be settled in his chair in the town hall lobby to begin greeting children and hearing their Christmas wishes. Meanwhile others can enjoy the hayride which arrives and departs from Milo Town Hall, continue with a craft activity, or have a snack. The winners of the Home Lighting Contest and Cookie Decorating Contest will be announced and prizes awarded before Santa leaves.

Weather permitting, at 7:00 pm. there will be a bonfire and skating at the rink at Harris Field on Elm Street.

The Milo Events Committee extends a sincere “Thank you.” to Lumbra Hardwoods, Tradewinds Market, community organizations and volunteers for their participation and assistance with Milo’s Hometown Holidays.
