Millinocket Regional Hospital names CEO

MILLINOCKET, Maine — After conducting a nationwide executive search, the Millinocket Regional Hospital Board of Trustees has named Robert Peterson as chief executive officer. A seasoned healthcare executive with more than 25 years of healthcare leadership experience, Peterson will assume his new duties at MRH on June 1, 2014.

“Bob brings extensive leadership experience in community hospitals and an impressive track record of achieving major improvements in operational efficiencies and quality outcomes,” said Mellissa Edwards, president of MRH’s board of trustees, in a hospital press release. “Bob is committed to building a trusted partnership with physicians and medical staff, as well as a strong relationship with the community.”

Peterson formally served as patient care administrator for surgery and women and children’s services at Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor. In this role, he provided leadership for the largest revenue center at Eastern Maine Medical Center as well as responsibility for the clinical operations of the surgical areas. Peterson also held numerous senior leadership roles, including vice president of operations, at Windham Hospital in Willimantic, Conn.

“Millinocket Regional Hospital was seeking a senior healthcare executive with a successful record of strategic and financial leadership, along with the vision that would enable our hospital to continue to offer the patient-centered health care approach that has earned us some of the best patient satisfaction scores in New England,” said Shelly Drew, VP of Physician Practices, in the press release. “Bob’s healthcare experience and leadership style are a perfect fit.”

Peterson earned a Master of Business Administration degree in Healthcare Management from the University of Connecticut in Storrs, Conn. and a Bachelor of Science degree in Medical Technology from Lenoir-Rhyne College in Hickory, N.C. He is a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives  and a member of the American Society of Clinical Pathologists.
