BANGOR, Maine –  Rosscare is proud to acknowledge that May is Older Americans Month and encourages community members to thank the older Americans in their life for their service to our communities.

We are proud of the older Americans that have enriched our lives as the teachers, industry workers, military heroes, and others that make our community strong. “During this month, we hope all community members will take the time to recognize how older adults have positively affected our communities yesterday, today, and will continue to do so in the future. At Rosscare, we believe in improving life by valuing aging and want to ensure that seniors continue to have access to quality healthcare resources,” says Amy Cotton, FNP, EMHS Continuum of Care, director of Operations and Senior Service Quality.

The United States Administration on Aging has chosen “Never Too Old to Play” as the theme for this year’s recognition. Through this theme, we encourage older adults to stay engaged, active, and involved in their own lives and in their communities. Local organizations are encouraged to be creative and find different ways to host intergenerational days of play to get people together to recognize this special time.

The Administration on Aging developed Older Americans Month in 1963 as a time to pay tribute to the contributions of past and current older Americans
and to raise awareness of the needs of this population to live a healthy, enriching life.
