LUBEC — The Mary Potterton Memorial Concerts will present SummerKeys jazz piano faculty member, Sebastien Ammann for an evening of jazz improvisation! 7:30-9:30 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 20, at the Congregational Christian Church, 46 Main St. Ammann teaches piano at Turtle Bay Music School in New York City as well as privately. Born in Geneva, Switzerland, Sebastien has made a name for himself as a versatile pianist and composer with a strong musical voice. Since arriving on the jazz scene in 2008, he has been living, composing, improvising and recording in New York City. Water Street Tavern and Restaurant will host this concert’s intermission refreshments.
The series will present Haley Hewitt, leaver harp and Andrea Hoag, fiddle, for an evening of Celtic music, 7:30-9:30 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 21. Hewitt is a Boston-based performer, composer, arranger, educator, and harpist. Steeped in music from North America, Scotland and Ireland, her music has a distinctly traditional flavor. With over 30 years of devotion to traditional fiddle styles, including intensive study in Sweden and a Grammy-nominated album, Hoag has earned an international reputation. This evening’s music program will feature traditional, original, and contemporary music for the harp and fiddle. West Quoddy Light Keepers Association will host intermission refreshments.
