“I’ve just finished writing Ticket to Ride: How Teens can Fundraise to Realize Our Dreams, and I want to put it out so it can help as many people as possible. To help with the print cost, I’m launching a campaign on Kickstarter,” Hila Shooter announced.
! The book grew out of her year-long experience successfully raising funds for a semester in Ecuador, which she went on in 2011 with Kroka Expeditions.
! “Last year, the community was so generous in supporting me with my fundraising for Ecuador. I received so much wonderful help, I knew that this year I wanted to give back,” she continued.
! “When I was approached by some teens who wanted to know how they could fundraise, too, I realized this was my chance.”So I’ve put to together a booklet for other kids, including some of my story and detailing step-by-step how to raise money for big dreams. ”
Shooter is aiming to raise $3,500 toward printing and production costs.
A native of Monroe, Shooter is a homeschooler who loves travel and adventure.
Kickstarter.com is a website for people to raise money for creative projects from books to CDs, and many other efforts.
At around 80 pages, Ticket to Ride is a quick, easy read. It includes anecdotes of Shooter’s experience, as well as step-by-step ideas and checklists guiding you through how to: break a big project down into doable steps, write a smashing fundraising letter, find odd jobs, plan, organize and carry off fundraising events, say thank you, and build enough momentum so that you, too, can fund your dreams.
