AUGUSTA, Maine — The Center for Workforce Research and Information of the Maine Department of Labor has created a mobile app for accessing economic data.
The Maine Labor Stats application is available through Google Play for Android and can be found on CWRI’s website, http://www.maine.gov/labor/cwri/mobile/ . An iOS version for Apple devices will be available soon in the iTunes store.
“Improving our citizens’ access to information is one of my administration’s priorities,” said Gov. Paul R. LePage, in a government press release. “I am pleased that Maine is leading the nation in making economic data available to job seekers, workers and businesses on their mobile phones. People can look up average wages for various occupations and keep tabs on our falling unemployment rate and other demographic and economic data.”
CWRI developed the Maine Labor Stats application to fill a need for mobile users who want to use information about employment, unemployment and wage levels by occupation, industry or geography. CWRI plans to provide the latest data through this app as an on-the-go mobile-enabled mini-version of CWRI’s more extensive website.
The Maine Labor Stats app provides the most up-to-date numbers for the following statistics published by CWRI:
- Unemployment rates by geography.
- Labor force data.
- Monthly nonfarm job estimates.
- Employment by industry and geography.
- Unemployment insurance claims.
- Income and wages.
- Demographics (population, poverty, education and veterans, and geography).
Users who download this app will have immediate access to CWRI’s latest published numbers and most recent unemployment news release. The Android version is available on the Google Play store now.
The Center for Workforce Research and Information, http://www.maine.gov/labor/cwri, develops and disseminates information on employment, unemployment and wages; analyzes outcomes of education and training programs to guide decision-making and develops industry and occupational employment forecasts designed to guide career planning and curriculum development. They work with a wide range of customers to provide context to the dynamics of the economy and the implications those have for workforce development.
