Maine Community Health Options welcomes Shon Thompson in information technologies role

LEWISTON, Maine – Kevin Lewis, CEO of Maine Community Health Options (MCHO), recently announced that Shon Thompson has joined the organization as information technologies manager and database administrator.

MCHO is a nonprofit organization that will provide affordable health insurance to Maine people and small businesses beginning in January 2014. The enrollment start date for the plan is Oct. 1. Organized as a Consumer Operated and Oriented Plan (CO-OP), MCHO’s mission is to provide high-quality benefits that promote health and wellbeing.

Thompson has more than 15 years of experience in the IT field, designing databases and applications. Prior to joining MCHO he was the senior database administrator at Goold Health Systems, a national pharmacy benefits manager. Thompson has implemented drug rebate applications, and managed pharmacy and eligibility data for Medicaid and other managed-care organizations.
Thompson attended Arizona State University. He continues to complete supplementary technical courses to remain current on programming and database technology. He lives in Monmouth with his family, and spends time coaching youth baseball.

Maine Community Health Options is a Consumer Operated and Oriented Plan (CO-OP) created with the support of the U.S. Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services. MCHO is a private, nonprofit entity governed by a customer-based Board of Directors, which gives members a strong voice in the policy direction and further development of the plan.
