The Mohawk Arts Collective, the theater company based out of The Barn in Bass Harbor, will perform We Run the Ship – a make your own adventure musical – at the Southwest Harbor Public Library on June 26th at 6:30pm.
The interactive show, which features live music and puppets, is for all ages and imaginations as each audience member chooses for themselves where to go and what to do next.
We Run the Ship premiered in March in New York City and the cast is in residence this week at The Barn preparing for a run in the Portland Fringe Festival at the end of the month.
“The Southwest Harbor Library is a perfect venue for this show because of the size and levels of the space,” said co-creator and Bass Harbor resident Andrew Simon. “Depending on the choices they make, the audience members will travel with the performers upstairs, downstairs and outside as they make their way through the story.”
Simon is hosting residencies in The Barn throughout the summer for visiting artists to work on new performance pieces and can be seen on stage at the Acadia Repertory Theater next month. He hopes to produce We Run the Ship in The Barn and at other local performance locations throughout the summer.
