Renée Fleming as the Marschallin in Richard Strauss’ “Das Rosenkavalier,” part of the “Live in HD” series from The New York Metropolitan Opera at The Grand.

The “Live in HD” high-definition simulcast series of productions and hi-def encores from The New York Metropolitan Opera continues its 2016 – 2017 season at The Grand on Saturday May 13th at 1 pm with a presentation of Richard Strauss’ grandest opera- Das Rosenkavalier. In his new production, Robert Carsen places the action at the end of the Habsburg Empire, underscoring the opera’s subtext of class and conflict against a rich backdrop of gilt and red damask, in a staging that stars the dream cast of Renée Fleming as the Marschallin, Elīna Garanča as Octavian and Günther Groissböck as Baron Ochs. Sebastian Weigle conducts the sparklingly perfect score. The estimated run time is 4 hours and 50 minutes with two intermissions. Tickets are Reserved Seating for this hi def simulcast and the prices are as follows- $27 for Adults, $25 for Grand Members and $20 for Students (15 & under).
