ELLSWORTH — Union River for Innovation will hold a Bookkeeping 101 seminar with Ken Bustard 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 10, at Ellsworth City Hall Auditorium, 1 City Hall Plaza.

This seminar will prepare area business professionals to understand cash vs. accrual and how it affects your business, creating a record keeping system compliant with IRS requirements, and end of year information for tax returns. To reserve your spot, visit eventbrite.com. 

Ken Bustard, MBA earned his Accounting degree from Husson College and his MBA from Husson University. He is currently an adjunct instructor at the university. Ken has over 30 years experience in the non profit sector. He began his full time consulting practice, d/b/a “The Accounting Coach” in 2006. He has since worked primarily as an outsourced CFO as well as maintaining his tax practice.

Bustard is a registered tax return preparer and has corporate, small business and individual tax clients. Besides “crunching the numbers,” he has developed training modules for board development, accounting systems, internal control, strategic planning, Fiscal Stewardship, IRS Compliance, etc. He is a regular presenter for Maine Association of Non Profits  and is occasionally contracted to provide trainings to industry specific groups.

He is an active volunteer for Junior Achievement of Maine and SCORE. Bustard is an active Mason, with Ralph J. Pollard Lodge in Orrington. His two main hobbies are trout fishing and road trips with his Honda Gold Wing.
