BAR HARBOR — The Jesup Memorial Library welcomes international bestselling mystery writer C.J. Box this Saturday, Aug. 10 for a very special event that begins at 2 p.m.
“It’s a thrill to give our patrons the opportunity to meet C.J. Box right here at the Jesup,” said Melinda Rice, the library’s communications director. “He’s won the top awards in mystery writing and his books have been translated into almost three dozen languages. He’s a great storyteller and we’re excited to be hosting him.”
The New York Journal of Books has called Mr. Box, who lives in Wyoming, “one of America’s best thriller writers.” He is the author of 17 novels including the Joe Pickett series featuring a Wyoming game warden; and four standalone novels including the just-published, “The Highway” which follows former police investigator Cody Hoyt as he tracks two girls gone missing on a lonely stretch of Montana highway, matching wits with a vicious serial killer to save the girls while struggling with his own demons. “The Highway” has won raves from critics nationwide, with Publisher’s Weekly saying the novel is “filled with believable characters and hard, realistic dialogue, Edgar-winner Box’s perfectly paced novel offers a suspenseful story laced with more than a few shockingly unexpected plot twists. “
Mr. Box has won the Edgar Allan Poe Award for Best Novel, the Anthony Award for literary crime fiction, the Prix Calibre 38, Macavity Award, and the Gumshoe Award.
His appearance at the Jesup is co-sponsored by Sherman’s Books, which will provide books for purchase that afternoon; part of the proceeds from all volumes sold at the library that day will be donated to the Jesup.
