PORTLAND — With the holiday gift giving season upon us, Maine Association of Nonprofits (MANP) offers a way to avoid the mall crowds and support the missions of Maine’s nonprofit organizations all at the same time.
In fact, supporting these non-profits in their missions, has never been easier. A list of gift-giving opportunities, which are organized alphabetically into three categories: products and services, gift memberships and donate in my name, can be found at www.nonprofitmaine.org/giftsthatgivetwice.
Items include: gift memberships to organizations such as the National Resources Council of Maine, People Plus, Portland Trails, Presque Isle Historical Society, Sheepscot Valley Conservation Association and the Small Woodland Owners Association. Other organizations, including Camp Sunshine, Center for Grieving Children, the Charlotte White Center, Georges River Land Trust, the Iris Network, Maine Audubon, Maine Humanities Council, Pine Tree Society and the Yarmouth Historical Society, offer books, greeting cards and calendars.
WinterKids offered the gift of winter fun for kids in 5th, 6th and 7th grade through the WinterKids Passport, which provides free and discounted tickets to 50 winter sports centers across the state. The Maine Craft Association/The Center for Maine Craft, highlighted craft items made by more than 500 Maine artists, and Riding to the Top Therapeutic Riding Center a chance to adopt a therapeutic horse for a month, or even a year, through the Gifts the Give Twice program.
It is still not too late for MANP members to get their gift suggestions listed on the site, as MANP members are entitled to post their gift-giving opportunities at no cost.
