Gifford’s Ice Cream served its award-winning ice cream to more than 600 enthusiastic guests at the first-ever “Taste of Maine,” a Capitol Hill reception hosted by the Maine State Chamber of Commerce to showcase Maine’s culinary prowess.
Gifford’s was one of more than 20 outstanding Maine culinary products featured at the event, which showcased Maine farms, restaurants, breweries, distilleries, vineyards and food companies. The event was held in the Russell Senate Office Building’s historic Kennedy Caucus Room on Tuesday, April 23.
Attendees included Maine Senators Susan Collins and Angus King, along with other senators, Congressional staffers and other guests.
“More and more stores, restaurants and ice cream stands in the Washington region are carrying Gifford’s Ice Cream, and ‘Taste of Maine’ is a wonderful opportunity to introduce our ice cream to people in the Nation’s Capitol. The Maine State Chamber hosted a great event,” said Lindsay Gifford-Skilling, general manager of Gifford’s Ice Cream.
Gifford’s Ice Cream is available in Whole Foods, Apples and Oranges Fresh Market, Rodman’s, Santoni’s Super Market, Eddie’s Market, Burger Joints and a growing number of prime locations throughout Washington, Northern Virginia and Maryland.
“Mainers take a great deal of pride in ‘Made in Maine’ products and the Maine State Chamber of Commerce is always eager to help get the word out about the abundance of our great state; from our farms to the ocean, to our restaurants and breweries,” said Dana Connors, President of the Maine State Chamber of Commerce. “The ‘Taste of Maine’ reception was a huge success, and we look forward to hosting this event on Capitol Hill again.”
The “Taste of Maine” reception was sponsored in part by the Maine Department of Economic and Community Development, the National Restaurant Association, the Maine Restaurant Association, Hannaford Supermarkets, and Huhtamaki, Inc.
