ROCKLAND — Friends For Friends is a nonprofit charitable corporation helping Maine residents who have fallen on hard times. Fundraising events, such as this year’s rally, allow the corporation to provide assistance to residents in need.

So far, Friends for Friends has purchased a bed for a woman with cancer, cleaned up the yard of a terminally ill elderly shut-in, gave a washer and dryer to a single mother and repaired and modified a snowmobile for a man who lost his arm in a snowmobile accident.

The Fund Raising Rally, which was to raise donations and awareness for Friends for Friends, brought families from all over the region and generated much needed donations for this one-of-a-kind charity. Car enthusiasts brought their old and new Corvettes, Chargers, Jeeps, Mustangs and other vehicles, while DJ Andy and the band Chaos Sauce played.

At the event, children were busy making giant bubbles from sticks, twine and soapy water, getting their faces painted by Angela Crabtree of Portland and Rhonda Ralph of Bangor and climbing on firetrucks, including the 1937 Buffalo from the Thomaston Fireman’s Association.
