The Mill at Freedom Falls before restoration

FREEDOM, Maine — The Sheepscot Wellspring Land Alliance will hold its annual meeting at 4:30 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 15, at the newly restored Freedom Mill. All are welcome to attend the event, featuring a talk by University of Maine professor Mac Hunter and a chance to tour the mill.

“We are excited to host a speaker who is an internationally known expert on forests and wildlife conservation.” says board member Buck O’Herin.

Dr. Hunter will focus on how to maintain habitat for wildlife with logging and climate change in his talk, titled “Of birds and beetles: conserving biodiversity in a dynamic world”.

Adds O’Herin, “The meeting provides a chance to learn about wildlife conservation and forests in a beautiful setting that reminds us how we can make a difference. Food will be provided.”

The meeting will be held from 4:30 – 6:00 p.m. It will include Hunter’s talk, an opportunity to tour the mill, and a brief business meeting, with appetizers and drinks provided. All are welcome to attend; only current members of the Sheepscot Wellspring Land Alliance can vote during the business meeting.
