After Bar Harbor’s exciting and successful First Friday Art Walk in August, the Downtown Arts Group is pleased to announce the next First Friday, September 7th, 6 – 9 p.m. Two additional galleries have joined the list, the recently opened Artemis Gallery, on Albert Meadow, featuring local Maine artists and The Mason Gallery, on West Street, showing the photographic works of owner Stan Mason.

Linda D’Alessio of D’Alessio Gallery, co-coordinator of the Art Walks along with Sherry Rasmussen added “Art Walk’s mission is to bring the galleries together for this “art hop” one evening a month during the summer season with a variety of the arts for folks to enjoy. Bar Harbor’s shops and galleries offer a wide variety of works from traditional to contemporary, many showcasing Local and Maine Artists.” Continuing, Linda states, “fine crafts including sculpture, glass, pottery, jewelry and fiber arts will be found on the walk. Bar Harbor is full of visual, wearable, performing and literary arts. Venues will change at many of the galleries throughout the season so people should mark their calendars not to miss any of the Walks.”

Continuing, Sherry announces “the September walk will feature an art show along the beautiful new Harborside Boardwalk at 55 West St with six West Street artists showing their latest works: Susan Raab, Russ D’Alessio, Stan Mason, Bruce Collins, Kathy Hall and Ivan Rasmussen. Members of Harborside Shakespeare Co., and guest musicians will stroll the Boardwalk, Testa’s Courtyard and various locations throughout town.” Sherry added, “be sure not to miss the hilarious 11 p.m. post art walk event with the Improv Acadia, “Improvision,” at Reel Pizza. With the sound turned off, the comedians improvise the dialogue, music and sound effects of a cheesy Grad-B move that they have never seen before!”
