FOREST CITY, MAINE- The Woodie Wheaton Land Trust announces the first event of their “Educational Speaker Series & Summer Field Trips” on Friday, May 9th from 7:30-10PM. Adults and children are invited to join forest ecologist, Marion Bates, to observe woodcock on their “singing grounds” and to call in owls after dark.
Marion has been an avid birder for over 40 years, and spends much of her time learning new ways to identify and describe different bird vocalizations. She also studies the habitat preferences of northern Maine’s breeding birds.
Meet at the mouth of the Burn Road, Route 1, Topsfield, Me. Please arrive by 7:15 to sign in. You may call ahead to reserve your space. You may want to bring a flashlight and bug spray.
