Holy Trinity Chapel at Saint Brendan’s received an episcopal visit on Sunday, September 23, from the Right Reverend Richard Lipka. Bishop Lipka preached a powerful sermon on Christian discipleship, sacrifice, and servanthood based on the Gospel text from Mark 9 and he was the chief celebrant for the Eucharist. Bishop Lipka also used the occasion to formally receive Rev. Dr. Alan and Sue Andraeas and Saint Brendan’s Monastic Retreat Community into the Missionary Diocese of All Saints—an evangelical, traditional, conservative, and charismatic diocese within the Anglican Church in North America. Bishop Lipka is from Salisbury, MD, and is a graduate of St. Mary’s College and Seminary in Maryland, the University of Maryland, and the Pontifical Gregorian University of Rome. He is the Bishop Visitor for Saint Brendan’s. His next visit is tentatively scheduled for the Spring of 2013 when he will administer the Sacrament of Confirmation.
